List-building is really the name of the game. The amount of targeted email subscribers you collect into your autoresponder determines how much money you make, period.
You may have heard it said that on average you should be making $1 a month for each email you have on your list.
(Really quick, I’m aware that what I will talk about in this post is a little technical. Which is why I shot a video to explain visually what I’m talking about. Take a look below!)

Of course, relationship with the list also plays a big part but that comes after. Below, I’ll show you a easy but proven strategy I use to build my list fast and easy using a technique I call the “lead bait”.
This method of attracting leads will work with any funnel builder you use. You can also do it inside of Power Lead System and I know many other marketers who use PLS exclusively for this.
However, I’ve used this funnel/page builder called FunnelKit much more and feel more comfortable using it. Any page builder will have a bit of a learning curve, including FunnelKit, but be diligent on the one you choose and you’ll prevail!
FunnelKit pretty old and doesn’t have a lot of the flying graphics, blinking animations and video background that other new systems have but it gets the job done (and no monthly fee to use).
It makes simple pages on the fly that get conversions. In the end it’s not really the system you’re using but the ad copy or video on the capture page that’s really going to get people to take action.
So here’s what I do:
Let’s say I ultimately want to promote Power Lead System. Sometimes I like to switch it up and promote a different page than the usual.
I feel that the PLS premade sites have been seen many times that most marketers just pass right by them. Even though PLS may be exactly what their business needs to see massive results they say “ah, i’ve seen this before” and move on.
So instead of promoting PLS’s premade pages I create my own. I always start with value first. What we’re trying to do is share something that will ease a struggling marketers pain.
The pain could be lack of leads, solo ads too expensive, don’t know where to market, etc. Anything that someone will want to know and gladly give you their email address for.
I’ve found that providing a free training video gets the best response. To choose video I go into the PLS training site and find one of the live training videos.
As you can see above the Power Lead System back office has more than enough training on marketing so this allows for multiple angles for the “lead bait”.
You can also do a general Youtube search for a good training video but then you’ll run into having to make sure the video doesn’t promote something or someone else.
There’s no copyright issues and no cross marketing inside Power Lead System training videos so we’re in the clear. (By the way, you could also shoot the video training yourself but we’re talking quick and easy here)
If the video is about “how to build your list fast” for example I’ll create the capture page to “sell” this.
The capture page is where most of the magic happens. It has to have some action inducing ad copy that will attract targeted visitors to opt-in. This isn’t so hard to do if you’re doing your own marketing. You already know what frustrated marketers want more of (leads, sales, commissions, residual income, know-how).
So say i wanted to send them to a video training about Email Marketing Mastery my ad copy for the capture page may say something like this:
“FREE VIDEO: The One Trick I Did To 5X My Email Open Rates & Get Them To Click – Free step-by-step training inside”.
That’s a very rough draft but you get the idea.The great thing about this is that it’s your page so you control it. Always tweak it and test it to see what works best.
Next, once they give you their email address they arrive at your landing page. You could just have the video start playing right away or double opt-in and have them go back to their inbox to get the video.
I mostly just do single opt-in so they go right to the video. Below the training video I’ll write something like “hey if you liked the video training here’s where I got it from. Learn from the top marketers in the industry inside of PLS”.
Wherever you send them to after the video the important part is they became a lead and you now have them in your autoresponder.
I’ve done this strategy for countless programs and even some Clickbank or JVZoo products with great conversions. Whichever funnel creator you’re using make sure that you design the capture page attention-grabbing but not too flashy.
I’ve noticed that a pure white background works well but also a picture background works too. A video on the capture page isn’t necessary in my experience but works well if you’re good on camera. Again, tweak and test and see what works for your offer.
One of the best places I’ve seen this technique work wonders is in Safelists. These are sites where everyone agrees to receive pitch emails about their program, system, biz-opp.
If you’ve ever joined a safelist you’ll notice that 99% of the other marketers are sending you to their sales page. This is an obvious newbie mistake and it’s costing money and clicks. Your target is only going to see your page once and click off.
In safelists users are all looking for the credits to send their ad to you. So their interest in another offer is very low. But, using a “lead bait” funnel you can tailor the capture page to speak to them directly.
The most directly way to advertise on a safelist is to use the actual name of the safelist in the ad copy. This is marketing gold I’m giving you right here.
And example could be say you’re promoting on ListJoe. Making your capture page say something like “How I Tripled My Commissions On ListJoe With This FREE Marketing System – Details Inside”.
Your target lead will see this as, not another pitch, but something that’ll help his or her business. To you this means more leads, sales, and potentially a life-long business partner.
Marketing is really quite fun once you get the hang of it!
